Repentance - Chapter 8

*Bella POV*

As soon as I began to push my door open, out walks Edward. I knew that was his car. He had a big smile on his face and I couldn’t help but laugh.

“What are you up to, mister?”

He took me in his arms and planted a kiss on me that I will never forget. It nearly made my knees shake. I was so glad to be in his presence again. He made my not so glamorous life seem very manageable.

“Wow.” I said, when he finally pulled away. “Did you miss me?”

Edward laughed. “Of course I missed you.”

“What are you doing here?”

“Alice, Masen and I have a surprise for you.”

I sighed. “Oh God, what have you done?”

“Stop being so dreadful, you’ll love it. I promise.”

“If you say so...”

He took my hand and led me inside. Oh my God. I have a Christmas tree!!! I thought to myself. “Oh my gosh, I love it!” I let go of Edward and walked across the room to get a better look at the tree. I almost instantly began crying when I saw the ornaments; especially the star, it nearly had me sobbing.

“Mommy, was wong? You don’t like it?” Masen asked, coming up to me and hugging my leg.

I laughed and knelt down to him. “No, baby. I love it. These are happy tears.” I said as I wiped at my soiled cheeks.

I turned to face Alice and Edward. “I can’t believe you guys did this. I love it. Masen will have a Christmas tree this year!”

Alice jumped up and down and then gave me a hug. “I’m so glad you like it. It was Edward’s idea.”

“Well, I certainly can’t take all the credit, Alice and Masen were the masterminds behind such thoughtful ornaments.”

I stood there and cried as they both hugged me. “Thank you.” It meant more to me than I realized. My little boy had never had a Christmas with a Christmas tree before. It was something I remember being so fond of as a child. I was actually excited about Christmas now, rather than dreading it.

Alice finally pulled away from me. “I’ve got to get going.”

I nodded my head and walked her to the door. She hugged me again and whispered in my ear. “Call me when he’s not around, we need to talk.”

She pulled back and I gave her a quizzical look. “Is it bad? What’s wrong?”

“It’s not bad. It’s very good.”

That scared me even more. “Okay.”

Alice left and I went back inside. Edward was in the kitchen starting a late dinner.

“Are you hungry?” he asked.

I just grinned at him and nodded my head. “I’m going to put Masen to bed and grab a shower, okay?”

“Sure. Dinner and a glass of wine will be waiting on you when you get back.”

I smiled. I so desperately wanted to blurt out I love you, but I didn’t want to freak him out. I put Masen to bed and went into the bathroom with my cell phone. I turned the shower on and called Alice before stepping in.

“Hello?” Her always chipper voice answered.

“Hey, Al. What’s going on?” I asked softly.

“Oh, Bella! He loves you!”

I laughed. “What are you talking about?”

“He told me!”

My heart started racing. “What?”

“I wish you could’ve seen him. He actually got choked up looking at the pictures of you and Masen from when he was a baby.”

“Really?” Edward never really seemed all that emotional to me.

“Yes, and then he said...Alice, I think I love her.”

My heart stopped beating. She said it so theatrically, I had to laugh. I wanted to jump up and down like a little kid with candy. “Oh my God.”

Alice squealed. “I know! Bella, he’s so great! I’m so happy for you.”

“Thanks, Alice. I have to go, I’m hiding in the shower.”

Alice giggled. “Okay, I love you, see you Monday!”

“Kay, I love you too! Thanks again!”

Just as I pulled the phone from my ear, Edward walked in, butt naked.

I laughed. “What are you doing?” I was sitting, naked, on the edge of the sink with my legs crossed.

He closed the door. “What are you doing? I thought you were taking a shower, not sneaking away to use your phone.”

“Alice called, I wasn’t sneaking away.” I uncrossed my legs and spread them slightly as he walked up to me, standing between my legs. His arms wrapped around my waist.

“What did she want?”

“Well...” I avoided his eyes. “She said that you thought you loved me.” It came out barely as a whisper.

He tilted my chin, so I was looking at him. “I didn’t want to tell you this way, sitting naked on a bathroom vanity...”

I giggled. He kissed me. “But, I don’t think I love you.”

My mouth fell open and I stared up at him.

“I know I do.”

My heart resumed beating then and I kissed him. I pulled back and hugged his neck. “You’re so good to me.”

He smiled. “How about that shower?”

I nodded my head and jumped off the counter. “What about dinner?”

“It’s in the oven. We had 17 minutes from the time I came in here.”

I laughed. “You came in here looking for a quickie, huh?” I stepped into the shower and he playfully smacked my but.

I jumped and giggled. We actually just showered, and didn’t go for the quickie. Neither one of us wanted to be quick. We wanted to savor each other.

When we got out of the shower, Edward left me to get dressed while he went to tend to dinner.

I heard his phone ring multiple times. He finally answered it.

“What?” he yelled.

I stopped what I was doing, and listened quietly.

“No, she’s full of shit. I don’t care. She knows what she has to do and so do you. You’re such a bitch.”

My eyes grew large. Who was he talking to like that? I’ve never heard him talk that before.

“No, I don’t want to talk her. I don’t care, Rose. I’m hanging up now. Goodbye.”

His sister.

I cautiously stepped out of the bathroom. “Is everything okay?” I asked.

He looked up at me. “I’m sorry you had to hear that. Everything is fine.”

He continued messing with dinner at the oven. He was wearing only his jeans, bare feet and chest. He looked good enough to eat.

I walked up behind him and wrapped my arms around him, kissing his back. “Are you sure?”

“Yes, I’m sure.”

I let go of him and stood beside him against the counter, so I could see his face. “Edward, please don’t feel like you have to ignore your family because of me.”

“Don’t worry about it, Bella. It’s not a big deal.”

“It’s a big deal to me. Just because they don’t like me, doesn’t mean you have to disown them. They care about you.”

“No, they don’t. They care about social status.”

“That’s not true, Edward.”

“You don’t know everything, Bella!” He nearly yelled.

That took me by surprise. I backed off then. I went to my room and closed the door. He hurt my feelings. I sat on my bed quietly so I wouldn’t wake Masen. I vehemently fought the tears that threatened me.

Edward quietly pushed the door open a few minutes later. “Dinner’s ready,” he whispered.

I took a deep breath and left the room. Dinner was on the small table adjacent to the kitchen. We both sat, silently. When I reached for my glass of wine, he intercepted, grabbing my hand.

“Bella, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to snap at you. I don’t come from a perfect family. It’s a very touchy subject with me. I’d rather not talk about it. Please forgive me.”

He looked very troubled. “I’m sorry, I was just trying to help.”

“I know.” He kissed the top of my hand. “You help by just being with me. I’ll handle my family. Please, do not worry about it.”

I took a deep breath and nodded my head. We ate mostly in silence. We both did the dishes afterwards. I couldn’t help but wonder what the story was with his family. I was obviously missing something. It troubled me that he didn’t want to talk about it with me, but I guess it was the same scenario with what happened to me in college. I certainly didn’t want to share details with him.

I got over it, and we went to bed. We spent the rest of the weekend at his apartment. Late Saturday afternoon I was cleaning up Edward’s apartment while he ran to the grocery store to pick up a few things for dinner. Masen was taking a nap in Edward’s bed. There was a knock at the door. I looked through the peep hole. Edward’s sister.
I hesitated momentarily, wondering if I should open the door. I finally decided I would.

“Is Edward here?” She asked.

“No, I’m sorry. He ran to the store.”

“Do you live here now?” she asked.

“No. Would you like to come in and wait for him?”

“No, that’s not necessary. You can just ask him to call me.”

“Okay, I will.”

She turned to leave, but she stopped, turning back to face me.

“Oh, and Bella...I’m sorry about Thanksgiving. Don’t tell him I said that. I’m saying it because I mean it, not because he wants me to.”

I was confused. “Okay. Thanks.” She turned and disappeared down the hallway. I closed the door and just stood there momentarily trying to figure out what just happened. Why was she being nice to me now?

I busied myself around the apartment until Edward returned. After he returned, we were both in the kitchen putting the groceries away.

“Your sister stopped by.”

He stopped what he was doing and turned to look at me. “What?”

“She stopped by while you were gone. She asked me to have you call her.”

“Is that it?” he asked.

“Yes. Well...” I hesitated, wondering if I should tell him about her apologizing. “Yes.”

He furrowed his brow at me. “What aren’t you telling me?”

“She apologized to me.”

“Really?” he asked, surprised.

I nodded my head. “But she said she was only doing it because she meant it, not because you told her to. And she told me not to tell you.”

Edward looked confused. “What the hell? She’s up to something. You can’t believe anything she says.”

“She looked sincere. You should call her.”

Edward gave me a stern look, warning me.

“Okay, sorry.” I backed off and continued putting the groceries away.

***

The next few weeks were extremely busy. Edward and I hardly got to see each other as we both had to prepare for finals. I was completely stressed out between work, school and Masen. Masen was really driving me nuts. Because I was having to study so much, he wasn’t getting attention from me that he normally would. It was after 10:00 the night before my last final. I had to be up early for work and then go straight to class. I needed to study and Masen wouldn’t go to bed. I was getting so frustrated. I went back into the room after listening to scream for half an hour.

“Masen, lay down. You’re not getting out of bed. You need to go to sleep.”

“I wan anover story!”

“I’ve read you two stories! Go to sleep!”

“I want Daddy! You are mean!” he screamed.

“If I let you talk to Daddy on the phone, will you go to bed?”

Masen stopped crying and nodded his head yes. He missed Edward. He looked up to him so much and he liked having a guy around. I think he misses Charlie, and Edward takes Charlie’s place in his mind.

I sighed. “I’ll be right back.” I went to get the phone. I had already talked to Edward that evening and I knew he was studying.

“Hello?”

“Hey, baby. I’m sorry to bother you.”

“It’s alright, what’s wrong?”

I sighed. “My son is throwing a massive temper-tantrum and he won’t go to bed and I really need to study. He said I was mean and that he wanted to talk to you. He promised he’d go to bed if he could talk to you.”

Edward laughed. “Of course I’ll talk to him. I miss him. He’s got you wrapped around his finger.”

“Ugh, that’s not a good thing!”

“Let me talk to him.”

I went back into the room and held the phone to Masen’s ear. I turned the volume up so I could hear.

“Daddy!” Masen yelled into the phone.

“Hey, buddy, why are you still awake?”

“I not sweepy!”

“Well maybe if you lay down and be quiet you will get sleepy. Mommy has to study, you have to be quiet for her, okay?”

Masen rolled his eyes and I had to laugh. “Okay, Daddy. When you comin over?”

“If you go to sleep like a good boy, I’ll come see you tomorrow, okay?”

Masen jumped up and down in his crib. “Kay. Night, Daddy.”

“Good night, Masen.”

I took the phone back. I kissed Masen on the forehead. “Okay, go to sleep. I’ll see you in the morning.”

Masen nodded his head and laid back down with his monkey. I went back to the living room.

“Sorry about that. You’re a life saver.”

Edward laughed. “It’s no problem. I can’t wait to see you tomorrow, I feel like it’s been forever.”

“It feels like forever.” I sighed.

“I know, baby. It’s almost over. We’ll have a nice long Christmas break together.”

I smiled at the thought. Edward didn’t even have to work at the library over the holiday break. “Okay, I’ve got to get back to studying. Good luck with your finals tomorrow. I love you.”

“Thank you, Bella. Good luck with yours as well. I love you too.”

I stayed up most of the night studying. I was really worried about this final. I didn’t feel prepared for it at all. I was so tired when I got out of bed the next morning.

It was shortly after 7:00 p.m. when I finished my exam. I was walking across campus to the bus stop when someone grabbed me from behind.

I nearly had a heart attack until I realized it was Edward. I hit him in the chest. “Don’t do that! You scared me!”

“Oh, right. I’m sorry, Bella. I forgot. I just saw you across campus and I was trying to catch up to you. I missed you.”

He hugged me and I let my guard down. “What did you forget?” I asked, curiously.

“What?” he asked, confused.

“You said I’m sorry, Bella, I forgot.”

He stuttered for a moment. “I don’t know, I didn’t mean anything by it. I just didn’t mean to scare you.”

“Okay.” I exhaled a deep breath, pushing away the dark memories that were creeping back into my mind. “Let’s go home.” I grabbed his hand and we turned and walked in the opposite direction, towards his car.

“What time is Alice expecting you?”

“Not until after 9:00 p.m.; Why?”

“Well, I thought maybe we could go do some Christmas shopping for Masen.”

“Edward, I don’t have the money right now and you don’t need to be buying him things.”

Edward sighed. “You’re so stubborn.”

I gave him a warning look.

“You are! Why can’t I spoil the girl that I love?”

“Edward! You know how I feel about you spending money on me. And besides, we were talking about Masen, not me.”

“You, Masen, it’s one in the same.”

I shook my head. “You’re too much.”

“You know I’m going to do it anyway. You might as well come with me so you can pick him out some things he will like.”

I sighed, giving in to him. “Fine.”

We shopped until the mall closed that night. I got over Edward spending money on us when I realized how good of a Christmas Masen would have this year. I guess if I had a tree, there would need to be presents under it. Maybe I’d even be able to get Edward something. I sighed at the thought.

After we put Masen to bed that night we talked about our plans for Christmas. Edward insisted we spent Christmas with my dad, but I wanted it to just be the three of us here.

“Well let’s at least spend Christmas eve with your father,” he said.

“I’ll agree to that. What about your family?”

“What about them?” he laughed.

“Ugh! Edward! You have to least go see them. It’s Christmas!”

Edward’s phone started ringing. Again.

“I’m sorry,” he said. “I don’t know what her problem is. She won’t stop calling.”

“Who?” I asked.

“My sister. Excuse me.” I nodded my head and Edward stood and walked into the kitchen.

“What is it?” he answered.

“What? What are you talking about? Right now?”

“Ugh, Rose! I’m not even at home.”

“Fine, I’ll meet you there in half an hour.”

Edward walked back into the living room and my heart plummeted. He was leaving. “Is everything okay?”

“I don’t know. She is freaking out. She won’t tell me over the phone. She said she has gotten into some trouble.”

“Oh, that’s strange. I hope everything is okay.”

“Yea.”

“So, you’re leaving?” I asked.

He nodded his head. “Come with me. We’ll stay at my place.”

“I don’t know. I don’t want to get in the middle of whatever is going on with you and your sister.”

“Just stay in my room, she shouldn’t be there long.”

I sighed. I’d have to get Masen up and move him and it was a lot of hassle, but God I missed sleeping in Edward’s arms. “Okay,” I agreed. I quickly packed Masen and I a bag and Edward took our things to his car before coming back to get Masen. I was surprised that Masen didn’t even wake up.

I laid Masen down on Edward’s bed after we arrived. His sister arrived a few minutes later and I excused myself to Edward’s bedroom, but I purposely left the door cracked open.

“What is it?” he asked. “Why have you been crying?”

“Edward, I’m sorry. I don’t have anyone else to turn to. It started a few weeks ago. I got a DUI on the way home from a bar after going out after work. I wasn’t even drunk, I just hadn’t eaten and I failed the breathalyzer test. I lost my job for missing two days of work and not notifying them, but I was in jail! I spent all my savings on getting out jail, I have court fees, I need an attorney. I lent Emmett some money. Edward I’m broke. I got an eviction notice today. Mom and Dad are so furious with me. They won’t even talk to me, won’t give me any money.”

“What about your trust fund?”

I could hear her sobs increase dramatically. “It’s gone.”

“Gone?”

“Gone. You know mine wasn’t as much as yours because Nanna Cullen wouldn’t contribute to mine. Stupid wench.”

“Watch it, Rose.”

“Sorry, anyways, all of that isn’t even the worse part! I found out last night that I’m pregnant.”

Oh my. This was good, I thought.

“What?? What the hell is wrong with you? Is it that idiot’s child?”

“He’s not an idiot, and yes, it is.”

“Wow, you’ve got yourself in a real pickle, huh?”

I guess she nodded her head because I didn’t hear her respond.

“So what do you want? How much?”

“A couple thousand.”

“What are you going to do to fix this?”

“There’s not a lot available in Olympia, work wise. I’ve got a couple interviews lined up next week here in Seattle. I’ll probably move out here if I can find something. Emmett is looking for a job out here too.”

“He doesn’t even have a job? God, Rose.”

She just cried.

“I’ll put some money in your account tomorrow. I’ll find a good attorney for you in Olympia. This is the one and only time I’m helping you. Don’t screw up again.”

“Okay. Thank you, Edward. Seriously. I really appreciate it.”

“You’re welcome. What are you going to do about the baby?”

“What do you mean? I’m going to have it. Emmett and I are going to get married. I’m not having a child without a father like mom.”

“You had a father.”

“He was never my father and you know it.”

“I’m not arguing about this with you. Your biological father was a monster.”

“Okay, I’m sorry. I’ll go.” I heard her walking towards the door.

“Can I talk to you outside; so she can’t hear us?”

“I doubt she’s listening, Rose. What is it?”

“Trust me, you want this taken outside.”

I heard Edward sigh.

I didn’t hear her respond. I heard the door open and close and then there was silence. I peaked my head out the door, he went outside with her.

(Outside Edward’s Apartment)

“I know what your hiding,” Rose said.

“What are you talking about?” Edward asked.

“Her son, he looks just like you. Why didn’t you just tell us you had a kid with some girl...instead of running away and going bat shit crazy.”

“You don’t know what you’re talking about. Don’t ever say anything like that around here again. Go back to wherever you came from.”

“Look me in the eye and tell me that kid is not yours, Edward.”

Edward looked down and then back up at Rosalie. “You don’t understand. It’s just not that easy.”

“Why isn’t it?”

Edward took a deep breath and blew it out. “I can’t tell you. Nobody knows. Not even Bella.”

Rosalie looked really confused. “What do you mean?”

“I told you, I can’t tell you.”

Rosalie sighed. “Okay, well you have my number if you decide you want to talk about it. I won’t say anything to mom. Thanks again, really.” Rosalie hugged Edward and he was taken back by it. They had never been close. He thought, perhaps, his sister did have emotions.

Never Think - Chapter 17

Chapter 17:

I headed out of the hotel and as soon as I got on the street, I was glad I was out. It was a beautiful day in Manhattan and it was nice to be outside. The first place I stopped in was a cute little boutique. As soon as I walked in the door, I saw what I wanted.

It was in the very back of the long narrow store. It was black and white baby bedding with a fleur de lis print. It had hot pink accents, including a little blanket and throw pillow. I bought all the bedding, but instead of the hot pink accents I got them in a deep purple color. Once that was done, I was super excited.

My next stop was for baby furniture. I got an ebony crib, dresser, and changing table. I also got a matching rocker and ottoman. I’m having it specially made with matching fleur de lis print.

After I got all the big stuff out of the way, I bought her some clothes. I found a cute little boutique that specialized in unique children’s clothing. Everything was organic and had either a rock n’ roll or hippie feel to it. I was in heaven! The color pink hardly existed in that store and if it did, it was cute! I did buy one thing that was pink. It was a hot pink onesie with a black guitar on it and under the guitar it said “let’s rock.”

After I had spent a small fortune on clothes, I decided to head back to the hotel. I was tired, and my foot was starting to hurt. I arrived back to the hotel shortly before 5:00 p.m. I grabbed a snack from the mini bar and passed out on the bed.

“Kristen. Kirs, wake up.”

I groggily opened my eyes. “What?” I asked.

Rob laughed at me. “It’s almost 8:00 p.m. How long have you been asleep? Have you eaten?”

I rolled over onto my back. “I don’t know.”

“Are you hungry? I was going to order a pizza.”

“Yea, that sounds good.” I sat up and rubbed my eyes. I was so tired.

“Long day?” Rob asked.

I nodded my head. “Yea, but I got a lot of great stuff. I’m excited!”

Rob looked surprised. “That’s great! Where is it?”

“I’m having it all shipped to the house. I got all the bedroom furniture and a bunch of cute clothes! She’s going to be a hip little baby!”

Rob laughed. “I’d expect nothing less!”

I hit him playfully and crawled out of bed and headed to the bathroom to freshen up.

We watched movies and ate pizza that night until I thought I was going to pop. It was nice being with Rob again, without arguing.

I stayed with him for almost a week. It took me that long to get my documents straightened out to get home. My passport and driver’s license were in a storage area in Philadelphia where they collected the left over belongings on the plane. I didn’t want to leave Rob, but I was more than eager to get home and get started on the baby’s room.

I was a little leery of flying again, but I figured I’d have to get over it, and fast. As much as I fly, I should feel lucky that I’ve only had one minor accident.

“Okay, I think that’s everything,” I said to Rob as I stuffed a few of my new belongings into one of his backpacks. I stood and headed to the door. He was behind me when I turned around. He took the bag from me and set it down on the floor. He hugged me and I buried my face in his chest. I loved the smell of him. It felt like home.

I sighed. “I’ll miss you.”

He kissed the top of my head. “I’ll be home in less than two weeks.”

I nodded my head and looked up at him. He lowered his lips to mine and I savored his taste.

“I love you,” he said, his lips still dangerously close to mine.

“Love you too. Be good, okay?”

He laughed. “I’m always good.”

I scoffed. “Well, try to stay away from your poker buddy, for my own sanity.”

He shook his head and playfully rolled his eyes at me. I reached up and kissed him one more time. “I’ll call you when I get in.”

He picked my bag up and handed it to me. “Be careful.” He bent down and kissed my belly. “Bye, Mini Me.”

I giggled, desperately hoping he was right, that it was a miniature version of himself inside me.

We lingered a moment more before I finally left. Shortly after my shopping extravaganza the press got word that I was here and that I was on the plane that crash landed. They’d been staked outside Rob’s hotel ever since. I didn’t try to hide this time. I couldn’t run with my broken ankle, so I just put in my earbuds and ignored them.

When I arrived home I was surprised to see my mom. She greeted me as soon as I walked through the door.

“Hey, Mom, what are you doing here?” I hugged her.

“The baby’s furniture was delivered a little while ago along with a hoard of other things.” She pointed to the boxes stacked up in the living room.

I laughed. “I did some shopping for the baby in New York.”

“I figured as much,” she smiled. “It’s all together, in her room.”

“They put it together?” I asked.

“Yes! It’s beautiful.”

I hobbled through the living room and down the hall to the baby’s room. All of her furniture was put together and I loved it. I couldn’t wait to get the boxes open and get her bedding put together.

My mom and I spent the next several hours washing new baby clothes and sheets and finding places for them in her room. I was beyond thrilled with how it looked. I called the boutique where I got the bedding and I am having them make curtains to match it.

By the time we got everything finished we were both exhausted. Mom left and I hung out in front of the TV with a container of Ben and Jerry’s. I talked to Rob before going to bed and I sent him some pictures of the baby’s room. He insisted she needed a name. I told him I’d try to come up with something before he got home.

***

On the day Rob was supposed to come home, I was so excited I could hardly stand it. I cleaned the entire house from top to bottom, had my mom buy his favorite kind of beer, and enough food to keep us locked inside alone for a few days.

It was only when I became bored that I meandered into Satan’s closet. That’s how I had been referring to the internet lately. I tried to stay away from it, it always pissed me off. I couldn’t help but be tempted by the fact that I could find out exactly what my boyfriend had been up to at any given time.

Pissed off was an understatement. I wanted to freaking strangle him! There were pictures of him and Kacie out together the previous evening. They weren’t alone, but she had her arm around him! She was definitely moving in on what was mine. That wasn’t even the worst part. There was a picture of Rob and Kacie kissing outside his hotel! I could tell by his body language that he wasn’t expecting it, but it didn’t make it any easier to deal with. There were pictures of different members of the cast saying goodbye and a picture of Rob and Kacie hugging. I could’ve dealt with that, a friendly hug, but then there was a picture of her with his face in her hands and she is kissing him. His hands and arms are held out away from his body, as if he were surprised. There was another picture where it looked like he was pushing her away. Why would she just kiss him like that, if they hadn’t done it before? Maybe he was just concerned about her doing it in public. A million thoughts ran through my mind. Needless to say, I didn’t really care when Michael showed up on my doorstep later that evening. I secretly hoped Rob would walk in and see us together.

**Rob’s POV**

My blood was boiling by the time I landed in L.A. As I suspected, Kristen wouldn’t answer my calls. I was so sick of this shit. I didn’t know what the fuck was going on, but I think I knew who was behind it. I didn’t know what Kacie’s deal was. We were friends. She just fucking grabbed me and started kissing me. I could hear the paparazzi in the distance going nuts.

I wasn’t all that surprised to see Mike’s car parked outside my house when I arrived home. I was surprised, however, to hear his phone ringing as I walked past his car. I pulled the door handle, unlocked. What an idiot, I thought. I grabbed his cell phone from the center console.

Kacie.

Imagine that, I thought. I answered with the best American accent I could muster. “Hello?”

“Hey, it’s Kacie. It didn’t work. He’s just not into me.”

I couldn’t hide my laughter. “Kacie, it’s Rob.”

“Rob?” she nearly screamed. “Sorry, I thought I dialed someone else.”

“You did. Please explain why you’re discussing me with Michael?”

She fumbled momentarily for words. “He and I are friends. I liked you. He told me you just required a lot of encouragement, that you wouldn’t make the first move. So, I tried to today, but you obviously weren’t having it.”

I laughed. “Are you blind? I’m with Kristen.”

“What? Michael said you and her were just friends. I mean, she’s carrying his baby.”

I nearly growled into the phone. “It’s not his and neither is she.”

“I’m sorry, Rob. I’m really confused. I guess that’s why Kristen had it out for me that night she showed up at your hotel room, huh?”

“Yea, and due to your little stunt you pulled today, she won’t even speak to me.”

She sighed. “What the fuck is Michael trying to do? I’m so pissed at him. He made me look like a idiot. I’m so embarrassed.”

“Don’t worry about it. Listen, maybe you can do me a favor. Stay on the phone.”

She agreed and I headed inside. Kristen and Michael were on the couch, sitting a little closer than I would’ve liked. I was sick of his shit. I didn’t say a word. I pulled his short ass off the couch by his shirt and threw him into the adjacent wall. A picture fell and shattered on the hardwood floors.

“I’m not stupid. I know what you’re trying to do. It’s not going to work. Get the fuck out of my house before I kill you.”

He kicked me in the knee, sending me to the floor, he straddled me and took a couple of good swings at me.

Kristen was screaming. “Both of you stop it!! What the fuck, Rob? Quit!”

I pushed Michael off of me and slammed his head against the floor. There was blood dripping from my nose and it made me even more angry. I punched him in the face as hard as I could. I was certain I broke his nose, and possibly my hand. I pulled him up by his shirt and leaned him against the wall. He didn’t look good.

“Tell her what you did, or I’ll do it again,” I demanded.

He turned his head from me. “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he mumbled, his mouth full of blood.

I kicked him in the side. “Fine, I’ll let Kacie tell her.” I reached for the phone in my pocket.

His eyes popped open and he stood and lunged at me. We both fell over the couch, almost taking Kristen out. His hands were around my neck, I couldn’t breathe, there was blood running down the back of my throat, complicating things even further. I was on my back, backwards on the couch, my legs over the back of it. Michael was leaning over me, still choking me. My vision was blurring but I saw Kristen approach Michael from behind, she pulled on his shirt and his arm.

“Stop it! He can’t breathe! You’re going to kill him!” she screamed.

Michael flung his right arm back, pushing her away, and into the bookshelf behind her. With one hand gone from my neck, I pulled him over the couch using his other arm for leverage. We both struggled to get to our feet. I glanced back to see if Kristen was okay, and by the time I turned back around, Michael was coming at me. I ducked and missed his first swing. We both got a few more hits in before we were both suddenly covered in scolding hot water. Kristen had poured a pitcher of hot water over both of us.
“Stop!!! Both of you stop!” She ran between us, knowing we wouldn’t hurt her, at least I wouldn’t. “What the fuck is going on?” she yelled.

“He put Kacie up to this whole thing! He told her we weren’t together, and the baby was his,” I said, looking straight at Michael.

“He’s full of shit,” Michael spat.

I pulled Michael’s phone from my pocket and held it up and twirled it around in my hand. “You shouldn’t leave your doors unlocked.” I pressed the speaker phone button. “Kacie, are you still there?”

“Yes.”

“Do you have anything to say to Michael?” I asked her.

“Yea, what the hell, Michael? Why did you lie to me? You made me look like an idiot. Kristen, I’m sorry. I had no idea.”

I could see the confusion on Kristen’s face.

“I didn’t lie to you,” Michael tried to cover his tracks.

I threw Michael’s phone to him. “Would you like to let yourself out, or may I have the pleasure of throwing your ass out?”

Michael screamed in frustration and swung his arm at the large lamp on the side table, knocking it to the floor, the light shattering. He stormed out, slamming the door behind him.

**Kristen POV**

I was too angry to even attempt to form words. I went back to the kitchen and grabbed the broom and a few towels and began cleaning up the mess they made.

“Kristen, I will take care of this, stop,” Rob reached for my hand.

“Don’t touch me!” I screamed. “Would you go get a fucking tissue and stop bleeding all over my goddamn rug!”

He sighed and walked away towards the bathroom. I was so mad I couldn’t see straight. I felt better about the whole thing with Rob and Kacie and I still hated Michael, but I was pissed that they damn near killed each other right in front of me. They acted like they were in high school! Not to mention the fact that I spent all day cleaning the fucking house and now it was practically destroyed.

I looked up to see Rob coming from the hallway with two red tissues hanging out of his nose.

“I hope that hurts,” I said sincerely.

“Uh...thanks?”

I ignored his sarcasm and continued trying to clean the mess on the floor. As soon as I’d clean the blood off the rug, it would reappear.

“What the fuck!” I screamed, frustrated.

Rob was just staring at me. “Kristen, baby, you’re hand is bleeding. I would’ve told you sooner, but it was just entirely too entertaining.”

I turned my hand over; it was bleeding. A piece of glass from the broken light bulb was sticking out from it. I pulled it out quickly. “Ouch!” I jumped up and headed to the kitchen to clean it off.

I felt Rob come up behind me, his arms snaking around me. I turned the water off at the sink. “I told you not to touch me,” I said through gritted teeth.

He scoffed and backed away from me. “What is your problem now? There’s nothing going on between her and I, I thought I made that clear,” he was raising his voice.

“Ugh! Sometimes you can be so dense! It’s not about her! You come barging into the house and just start attacking Michael! You practically destroyed my living room and your face! I happen to be very fond of that face and now it’s all beat to hell!” I screamed. “Not to mention the fact that my favorite lamp and rug are ruined!”

Rob laughed. “I’ll buy you another one.”

As soon as he spoke, there was loud knock at the door.

“Jesus Christ, what the fuck does he want now.” Rob stormed off towards the door. Just before he swung it open, we both heard, “LAPD! Open up!”

Rob’s hand froze as it reached for the door knob. He shot me a questioning look.

I shook my head. “I didn’t call them, I swear.”

Rob sighed and opened the door.

“We had a call about a domestic dispute. Do you mind if we come in for a moment?”

Rob stepped back and let them in.

“What’s going on here?” one of the two officers asked.

“Nothing,” Rob answered.

The older police officer looked at me. “Ma’am are you alright?”

I nodded my head. The two officers walked into the living room, looking around, and I knew we were fucked.

“It certainly doesn’t look like nothing was going on here. Why all the mess? What happened to your face, son?”

“Um, there was a prior altercation with another guy,” Rob answered.

I walked over to them in the living room. I cursed under my breath when I noticed the younger police officer eyeing my hand wrapped tightly in a towel.

“What happened there ma’am?” he asked.

“I just cut my hand when I was trying to clean up.”

The police officers continued walking around. When they went to enter the hallway, I stopped them. “Is this really necessary? There’s nothing going on here. You can leave.”

“Well ma’am, we had two calls to this residence concerning a domestic dispute. It appears that you two are the only people here. You’re both injured. It looks to me like something is going on here.”

I bit my tongue so I wouldn’t say something stupid.

Rob spoke up. “Listen, I got into an altercation with a guy who was previously here. He is probably the one who called you. He’s gone, everything is fine. She cut her hand on a piece of glass. It’s not a big deal.”

“I’m going to need you to step outside with me.” The officer walked up to Rob and led him out the front door by his arm. The remaining officer interrogated me repeatedly about what was really going on. I told him the same story Rob did and I was having a really hard time keeping my cool. The officer that was interrogating me went outside and I followed him.

They were putting Rob in hand cuffs. “What the fuck are you doing?” I screamed.

“Ma’am, for your own safety, we are going to take him down to the station and hold him for 24 hours. You can continue with pressing charges at that time.”

“Press charges for what? He didn’t do anything! I don’t want to press charges!”

Rob was quiet. He must’ve already been told what was going to happen. They started to lead him down the front stairs. “Wait!” I yelled. I ran up to Rob and pulled the tissues out of his nose. I pulled on the hem of his shirt and dabbed the cut above his eye. If Michael was behind this, then cameras were surely nearby.

“I’m sorry,” I cried.

Rob shook his head. “It’s okay. Let’s just not make a scene.”

I held his face between my hands and pressed my lips to his. “I love you. I’m sorry about everything. I’m not mad at you. Don’t let any big burly guys touch your ass.”

Rob laughed. “I love you.”

They started pulling him away. “I’ll come for you as soon as they let me!” They placed Rob in the back of the car and he disappeared down the drive in a matter of minutes. I rushed inside and called Rob’s agent and lawyer. We had a small task force created in a matter of minutes. Rob’s lawyer insisted he’d have him back to me within a couple of hours.

Repentance - Chapter 7

CHAPTER 7:

He wasn’t in bed with me the following morning when I woke. I found his shirt on the floor and slipped it on before walking out of the room. Edward had ordered breakfast and he was helping Masen eat a pancake.

I laughed as Masen sucked syrup off his fingers. “Mamma!”

“Is that good, Masen?”

He eagerly nodded his head. He had never had pancakes before. Edward turned around to see me.

“Good morning, beautiful. I didn’t want to wake you. There’s plenty here if you’re hungry.” I sat down with them and ate breakfast. After we finished, Edward got up.

“I’m going to get in the shower. Masen, tell Mamma where we’re going today!” Edward said.

Masen grinned from ear to ear. “We goin to da zoo, Mamma!!”

“The Zoo?? Really?” I looked at Edward.

He nodded his head. I wasn’t sure if Masen was more excited, or I was. I hadn’t been to the zoo since I was a little girl. “Thank you, Edward.”

“Tank you, Daddy!” Masen yelled.

“Masen! Stop saying that! His name is Edward!” I scolded.

Edward laughed. “It’s okay, Bella, really.”

I sighed as Edward disappeared into the bathroom and we all began to get ready.

***

By the time we returned to Seattle a few days later, I was beyond exhausted. I had the most incredible time though. Edward made sure to show us a good time. The zoo was still my favorite part. Masen’s favorite part were the monkeys at the zoo. I think we were at the monkey exhibit for a good two hours.

Edward helped me get everything inside my tiny apartment on Sunday night when we got home. Masen was asleep and we put him straight to bed. I sighed as I met Edward at my door.

“I don’t want the weekend to end,” I said to him.

He kissed my lips lightly. “Me either. I had a wonderful weekend, Bella.”

I smiled. “Me too. What’s your schedule like this week? When do I get to see you again?”

He sighed. “I’m pretty busy. I have to work a lot, so I’m not sure I’ll be at the library much.”

“Oh, okay.” I couldn’t hide my disappointment.

“I’ll find time to see you though. I’ll call you, okay?”

I nodded my head. We embraced momentarily and kissed each other before finally parting.

It was lonely and cold sleeping alone that night. It made me realize how much I liked Edward, and missed him when he wasn’t around. I didn’t see him at all throughout the week and by the time Friday came around, I was more than anxious to see him. He was supposed to be coming over after he got off work.

*Alice POV*

I was playing hide and seek with Masen when there was a knock at the door. I hesitated momentarily, not wanting to answer Bella’s door. Not to mention, these apartments were pretty sketchy. When the person knocked a second time, I tip toed to the door to look out the peep hole. Edward!

I swung the door open. “Hey, stranger! Come in!”

Edward came in and Masen came out of his hiding spot. “Daddy!!” he screamed. I guess Bella couldn’t get him to kick the habit. She had filled me in on the Thanksgiving nightmare.

Edward scooped Masen up. “Hey, big guy. How are you?”

Masen hugged Edward’s neck. “Good, missed you.”

Edward kissed his forehead. “I missed you too, buddy.”

My heart melted. Bella was right, he is really good with Masen. “Edward, I think Bella was going to the library after class. I wasn’t really expecting her until later.”

“Well, Alice, I actually came to see you.”

“Oh?”

Edward put Masen down. “Yes, do you know if Bella has a Christmas tree?”

I laughed. “She doesn’t. Last year she got this little two foot joke of a tree. I tried to buy her one, she wouldn’t let me.”

Edward laughed. “That sounds like her.”

“You know her well!”

“Well, I was thinking...I want to get her one, a nice one. But I wondered if you’d want to help me. I want to surprise her with it, so she can’t object.”

I started jumping up and down. “That’s a great idea!! We’ll get an artificial one so she can use it every year. It has to have multi-colored lights and a homey feel to it, not a fake feeling. Oh! And we could make home made ornaments with pictures of Masen and his little hand prints! This is a great idea, Edward!”

Edward laughed. “Slow down, Alice!”

I giggled. “I’m just so excited. When do we start?”

“Well, it will be difficult to keep it from her. We’ll have to pre-plan and then throw it all together one evening when she’s in class.”

“Okay, well you get the tree. Masen and I can get started on the decorations every night when Bella isn’t here. I’ll have to find somewhere to hide them, but that shouldn’t be a problem.”

“Okay that sounds good. Let’s aim for next Friday. I’ll get the tree this weekend. Do you think that’s enough time?”

“Yes, I can definitely get everything together by then!”

Edward and I sat down and made some notes about what we were going to do and we made Masen swear to keeping it a secret from Bella. Just as Edward was getting ready to leave, Bella came through the door.

*Bella POV*

I was tired after class and didn’t feel like going to the library, although I really should have. I wanted to get home and freshen up a bit before Edward arrived.

Needless to say, I was surprised to see him when I walked in.

“Edward! What are you doing here?” He and Alice looked just as surprised to see me, and Masen had an evil grin on his face.

Edward grabbed my bags from me and kissed me. “I got off work early. I didn’t realize you were going to the library.”

“Oh, why does my son look like he has a big secret?”

Alice and Edward looked at Masen and they both shrugged their shoulders nonchalantly. Masen giggled. They were up to something.

“Well this has been fun, but I’ve get to get home. It was good to see you, Edward. Masen give me a hug and kiss!” Alice demanded.

Alice told Masen goodbye and she hugged me before heading out.

“I’m going to get him to bed, okay?” I said to Edward.

Edward nodded his head. “Have you eaten?”

“No, have you?”

“No, why don’t I go pick up a pizza or chinese while you get him to bed?”

“That sounds great! Chinese please!”

Edward laughed. “Yes ma’am.”

“Tell Daddy goodnight, Masen.” The words came out of my mouth before I even realized what I’d said. I covered my eyes in embarrassment. “I’m sorry.”

Edward pulled my hand away and laughed at me. “It’s fine, Bella. I really don’t mind.” He kissed me and Masen before leaving to get the food.

Masen was more hyper than usual and it took me a while to get him to settle down. Once he did, I changed into my pajamas and let my hair down, brushing it out. I wore black, white, and light pink flannel pants with a black tank top. I cleaned up the apartment a little bit before Edward got back.

Not only did he come back with Chinese food, but also a case of beer and a bottle of wine.

“What is all this?” I asked.

“Well, I wanted a beer. I wasn’t sure if you drank beer, so I brought a bottle of wine also.”

I shook my head and took some of the things from him. “You’re too much, Edward Cullen.”

He laughed at me. We set the food down on the coffee table and settled behind it against the couch. It was so good.

“So are you going to tell me what you guys are up to?” I asked.

“What are you talking about?”

“You, Masen and Alice. I could tell you all were up to something when I came in.”

He shook his head. “I don’t know what you’re talking about, Bella.”

“Masen told me,” I lied.

Edward turned to look at me quickly, eyes large. “Did he really?”

I laughed. “I knew it!”

Edward laughed. “That’s not fair, you tricked me!”

“You’ve done entirely too much for me, please don’t be doing anything crazy.”

“It’s nothing, really. I promise.”

I didn’t believe him, but I let it go. We continued eating and drinking until we were both stuffed and I was tipsy. Edward laughed at how much of a lightweight I was. I began unbuttoning his shirt as I kissed him. “You should get more comfortable.”

He laughed, “Let’s go to bed.”

“We can’t; Masen is in there. Neither one of us are exactly...quiet.”

“True.” Edward got up and went to the linen closet and grabbed several blankets from it. “Go get the pillows off the bed.”

I did as he said, and when I came back into the living room, he had moved the coffee table, turned the lights off, and laid the blankets out on the floor. I added the pillows and we had a perfect little pallet.

“Come here,” Edward pulled me down next to him. I immediately captured his lips, holding his bottom lip hostage between mine.

“I’ve missed you,” I said, after finally breaking our kiss.

“I missed you too, Bella. More than you know.”

I giggled and kissed him again, while peeling his clothes off of him. He was so incredibly sexy. Once I had him down to his boxers, I sat on his lap and ran my hands up and down his strong chest and along his shoulders. His hands were beneath my tank top, inching it up my stomach and eventually over my head. I wasn’t wearing a bra. I shyly leaned against him.

His hand brushed against my bare shoulder, moving my hair behind it. “You’re so beautiful, Bella.”

I smiled as he kissed me. I was so hopelessly in love with him. He gently laid me on my back, never separating his lips from mine. He slipped his hand inside my flannel pants and I lifted my hips to help him shimmy them down my legs. I removed his boxers and then I straddled him. I liked the position we were in. Edward was sitting against the couch, I was in his lap. I liked being this close to him. He smelled delicious. I moved on top of him in a perfect rhythm. His tongue lazily trailed down my neck. I moved quicker on top of him, enjoying the increased friction. His finger tips dug into the skin at my hips and I nearly fell over the edge when he closed his eyes and threw his head back against the couch. His hands on my hips guided my pace. I felt a tingling sensation between my legs and my muscles began to tighten in my stomach.

“Edward...” I breathed.

He opened his eyes and they met mine. I latched on to his lips with my own as I moved faster on top of him, felling my orgasm race through my body.

He pulled away. “Bella!” He said my name loudly as he came and I couldn’t help but smile. I loved hearing my name roll of his tongue as I made him fall over the edge.

We both clung to each other, breathless.

“Mommy!!” Masen cried.

Edward and I both laughed. “I guess we weren’t quiet enough,” I said. “I’ll be right back.” I crawled off of Edward and dressed quickly. I made my way into the bedroom where Masen was.

“What‘s wrong, buddy?” He was standing in his crib reaching for me. I picked him up.

He didn’t say anything, he just wrapped his little arms around my neck and laid his head on my shoulder. I rubbed his back and rocked him until he was back to sleep. I put him back to bed and went back to Edward. He was under the covers with his eyes closed.

I crawled in next to him. “Did you fall asleep on me already?” I asked.

He opened his eyes. “No, just resting my eyes.”

I laughed. “Sure!”

He laughed too. “You wore me out.”

I smiled and kissed him. “Good!”

We stayed in the living room the entire night, snuggled up next to each other.

I was disappointed the following morning when, after breakfast, Edward said he had to get going.

“Where are you going? I haven’t seen you all week.”

He walked up to me and caressed my cheek with the palm of his hand. “I know, sweetheart. I’ll be back tonight. I’ve got some errands to run and I need to do some studying.”

I stuck out my bottom lip, pouting. “Okay.” He kissed me, and I absolutely melted. I could feel the want in his kiss. I smiled when he finally pulled away.

“I’ll see you soon.”

I nodded my head and he gave Masen a hug and disappeared out the door. I sighed, and wondered what I’d do with the rest of my day.

Edward took me and Masen to dinner that evening. It was really fun. Masen had a great time. He never gets to go out like that, because I can’t afford it. He was so excited to get a balloon tied to his wrist when we left the restaurant. It was a cute little family restaurant that was locally owned. A family next to us was celebrating a birthday and the waiter sang happy birthday to them and took a picture of the child blowing out the candle on the cupcake. The waiter was using a Polaroid camera. Edward talked the waiter into taking our picture. I had to laugh at him at first, but the picture turned out very cute. It was of all three of us. We looked happy, like a family. Anybody on the outside would think Edward was Masen’s father. They even had the same stupid grin in the picture. I laugh every time I look at it. I’ve looked at it a lot.

The weekend was over before I knew it and it was back to our hectic schedules. It seemed like I rarely got to see Edward anymore. He wasn’t at the library as much and I missed him. I had a long week and a big exam on Monday of the following week. It was Friday night and Edward was working. I decided I’d go to the library to study. Alice said it wouldn’t be a problem. I was on the bus, on my to the library after work and as I passed my apartment building, I could’ve sworn I saw Edward’s car outside down the street. I sent him a text message.

Where are you? - B

I received his response almost instantly. Working, I thought I told you. - Edward

I sighed. I was secretly hoping he wasn’t working and was waiting on me at my apartment.

You did. I thought I saw your car near my place. - B

Not mine. Are you going to the library or home? - Edward

Library. I miss you. :( - B

I miss you too. I’ll be over a little after 9:00, get your studying done so I can have your undivided attention all weekend! - Edward

I like the sound of that ;) See you later. - B

I threw my phone into my bag and rushed to the front of the bus as I had almost missed my stop.

*Alice POV*

“Whew! Thank God she didn’t stop in here. I can’t believe you parked your car right out front.”

Edward laughed. “It’s down the street a little ways. I wasn’t even thinking. We have to hurry. Knowing her, she’ll pop in at any moment.”

Alice laughed. “I know, I know. I’m so excited!”

We had the tree up and we had just finished getting the lights on. Masen loved the lights, especially the twinkling ones. After we got the lights on we began adding the popcorn and cranberries. Masen and I had spent all week stringing popcorn and cranberries to use as garland. I saw the idea in a magazine, and I thought it was really cute.

“How did you ever find the time to get all this done?” Edward asked as he strung the popcorn garland around the top of the tree.

I laughed. “I’m fast! The most difficult part was trying to get Masen to stop eating all the popcorn!”

Edward and Masen both laughed. Masen and I hung ornaments while Edward continued with the popcorn and cranberry garland. When he was finished, he stepped back and looked at some of the ornaments. I made a lot of them myself. I had Masen’s baby footprints in a little frame with glitter on it, and several more homemade ornaments with some of Bella’s favorite baby pictures of him. There were also other homemade ornaments of her when she was a baby with her mom and dad, a picture of Masen and Mr. Swan, and of course regular Christmas ornaments with lots of sparkle! The entire tree was so colorful.

It struck me as strange to stand back and observe how much time Edward was spending looking at the photos of Bella, Masen and her family, especially the baby pictures of Masen. He almost looked like he was getting choked up.

“Um, Edward? Are you okay?” I asked hesitantly.

He looked back at me quickly, I startled him. He put down the ornament he was holding. “Yes, I’m sorry. I’ve never seen any of these.”

I walked up to him and looked at the picture on the ornament he was previously holding. It was a picture of Masen and Bella, the day they went home from the hospital. “He had a cone head.” I said.

Edward laughed. “Yes, he did, still cute though.”

I laughed too. “Yea, he was really cute.”

“Bella doesn’t look happy.”

I shrugged my shoulders. “She had mixed emotions at first. It was a really hard time for her, doing it on her own, you know?”

Edward nodded his head.

“Did she tell you about it?” I asked him.

Edward took a deep breath. “Not really. I mean, she told me she had been raped, I just assumed...”

I nodded my head. “Everyday since that day, I’ve wanted to kill the bastard that did it to her, but at the same time, I can’t imagine life with out that little angel.” I looked at Masen who was eating the popcorn off the left over garland.

I looked back up at Edward. He almost looked sick. “Are you okay?”

“Yea. I just really care about her.”

“I know you do. I wish you could’ve met her before Masen. She was such a bright light, so happy, carefree, determined. Then everything changed. She was broken, shattered, scared. You bring back the old Bella in her.”

Edward looked away from me quickly. I thought he was going to be sick. He took a deep breath before facing me again. “I’m sorry, Alice. It’s just hard for me to imagine.”

I nodded my head in understanding. He truly cared about Bella and that made me happy.

“Alice, I think I love her.”

My head shot up and my smile surely reached from ear to ear. “That’s wonderful! You should tell her!”

“You don’t think it’s too soon? What if she doesn’t...”

I laughed loudly. “Are you kidding me? She’s totally head over heels.”

Edward laughed. “Okay, I’ll tell her soon.”

That made me happy. We continued getting all the ornaments on the tree and it was getting late by the time we finished. Bella would be home soon.

“So, Edward, are you ready to see the tree topper?”

Edward laughed. “Sure.”

“I wanna put it up! I wanna put it up!” Masen screamed.

I pulled it out of the bag it was in. It was a gold sparkly three demential star with a picture of Edward, Masen and Bella from the restaurant in the center of the star. There was a boarder of red glitter framing the picture.

“Wow, Alice. That’s great, she will love it!”

I jumped up and down. “I know! You have no idea how hard it was to get this picture from her! I had to make a copy of it and give it back to her, I was afraid she’d kill me if I used the original.”

Edward laughed. “Okay, big guy, you want to put it on top of the tree?”

Masen reached for Edward to pick him up. “Yes, Daddy! I wanna do it!”

Edward picked up Masen and lifted him up so he could put the star on the tree. After Edward put him down, he straightened it up a bit and we both stood back admiring our work.

“It’s beautiful, Alice. Thank you so much for all your help. I never could’ve made it mean so much.”

I almost cried. “Your welcome. It was my pleasure, we had a lot of fun.” I heard Bella turning her key in the door and Edward ran to the door, to prevent her from coming all the way in.

Never Think - Chapter 16

CHAPTER 16:

I was glad it was late, and dark. I arrived at the airport shortly before 6:00 a.m. I made it quickly through security and my flight was already boarding when I arrived at my gate.

I had fallen asleep on the plane and I was woken up by the sounds of people talking loudly, some of them screaming. I quickly sat up, but didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary. There was a strange smell though.

I glanced to the guy next to me. “What’s going on?”

“Engine trouble, they’re trying to make an emergency landing, we’re just outside of New York,” he responded.

Just then the plane must have dropped 1,000 feet. I came slightly out of my seat and when I landed back in my seat, I thought I was going to be sick. I quickly put my seatbelt on. Everyone was on their cell phones, acting like it was the end of the world. The guy next to me was a complete mess. I’ve never seen a grown man cry like that before.

“Are you going to be okay?” I asked him.

He shook his head no. “I can’t get ahold of my daughter. We got in a big fight before I left, I said so many things I shouldn’t have. I don’t want her to feel bad if I don’t make it.”

I couldn’t even process what he was saying. Of course we would make it. Right?

I glanced out the window, we were awfully close to the ground, and still going rather fast. I was starting to panic. I grabbed my cell phone to text Rob.

If I don’t make it, I love you. I mean, I love you either way... - Kris & The Lil One

He responded almost immediately. What the hell are you talking about? - Rob

Don’t be mad at me. I was coming to see you, I’m on a plane, it’s going down. I love you. - K

As soon as I hit send, the pilot came on over the loud speaker. “Brace for landing!”

I glanced out the window again, we were over a runway, but we were going entirely too fast. I heard my phone beep, signaling a new message, but I never got to look at it.

We landed hard. I instinctively placed my hands over my stomach. All I could hear were the sounds of metal crushing all around me. Nobody was screaming anymore. It was eerily quiet. The last thing I remember was something very hard hitting my head, and then there was darkness.

***

Something was beeping. It was annoying the shit of out of me. My head hurt and that beeping was making it worse.

My eyes flew open. Why is it so bright in here? Where am I?

It all came back to me quickly. The plane. I was in the hospital. My baby. Was my baby okay?

My hands flew to my stomach, pulling the cords that were attached to them. It felt the same, but I couldn’t feel her moving.

“Kristen? It’s okay, calm down.”

I turned to my right. Rob. “What happened? Is she okay?”

His hand covered mine. “Everything is fine. She’s okay.”

“What’s wrong with me?”

He laughed. “Well, besides being in trouble for flying across the country without telling me, you have a nasty cut above your eye and a broken ankle.”

“What!? A broken ankle??” I tried to sit up, but my head started spinning. I tried to lift my feet. My right one was really heavy.

“Lay back, you’re going to make yourself sick. You’re lucky.”

“What happened? Where am I?”

“Crash landing. You went down in Philadelphia. The landing gear never came down. The back of the plane caught fire. You’re in New York. I had them transfer you here, so I could be closer to you.”

My eyes grew large and I quickly glanced down at the skin I could see.

“You were in the front.”

I sighed in relief. “Was everyone okay?”

“Mostly. Don’t worry about it. You need to relax.”

I laid back down. I felt dizzy. I breathed a sigh of relief.

“What were you doing, Kristen? Why were you coming to see me?”

“I just wanted to see you. I missed you.”

“Well, tell me next time! If you hadn’t of text messaged me and I wouldn’t have known you were on that plane, I would’ve been worried sick about you for days!”

“You don’t tell me when you fly across the country!”

“Kristen! Don’t start with me...you know damn good and well I wouldn’t have had to fly across the country if you would have answered your phone!”

I rolled my eyes. I felt tears sting my eyes. This wasn’t exactly what I planned. “I’m sorry, I don’t want to argue with you.”

“I don’t either, baby. I was just worried about you.” He kissed my cheek. “I’ve got to get back on set. We’ve got to shoot some night scenes.”

I nodded my head.

“I’ll be back in the morning.”

“Okay, I love you.”

“I love you too.”

He lingered momentarily before leaving.

An hour later the doctor came in and talked to me for a while and examined me. From the sounds of it, I was fortunate to come out of this mess with my baby and only a broken ankle and cut above my eye. I had seven stitches above my left eye. I was pissed about my broken ankle though. I had to keep the cast on for six weeks. At least I could walk, with a boot. The doctor discharged me at 8:00 p.m. I figured Rob was probably still working, so I just took a cab to his hotel.

I wanted nothing more than to take a hot bath and crawl into bed. The clothes I had on were gross. They smelled like smoke. Everything I had brought with me was gone.

I went to his room to see if he was there. I didn’t even have a cell phone anymore. I knocked, and was a little more than surprised to see who answered. Kacie.

I just stood there, speechless. She looked just as confused. “Uh, Rob, your friend is here,” she said.

I saw him coming towards the door. Tears were already blurring my vision.

“Kris! What are you doing here? Did they let you go already?”

I nodded my head. Kacie disappeared back into the room. I almost turned around to leave, to get my own room, but then I felt the baby kick, and I remembered why I came here to begin with.

I stormed past Rob, hobbling into the room.

There were empty beer bottles scattered about the room, playing cards, and two guitars.

I looked at Kacie. “The party is over. Get out.”

Kacie looked at Rob. “What’s her deal? What about poker?”

“Sorry,” Rob responded. “We’ll play another night.”

Kacie sighed and got up and grabbed her guitar and headed out of the room. I quickly began cleaning it up.

“This place is disgusting,” I said, as I hobbled around the room picking up beer bottles, food wrappers, and emptying ash trays.

Rob sat down on the bed and sighed.

“Can I borrow something to wear to bed? I don’t have anything.”

“Of course, take whatever you want.” He motioned towards a suite case in the corner of the room. I dug through it and pulled out a large t-shirt and a pair of his boxers and disappeared into the bathroom.

As I started filling the tub with water, I realized I couldn’t take a bath with the cast on my ankle. I screamed in frustration. I pulled my hair back and changed clothes and went back out to the bedroom. Rob was laying in bed, watching TV.

I crawled in the bed and faced away from.

“Are you alright?” he asked.

I nodded my head, yes.

“Why do I not believe you?”

I turned to look at him. “Ugh! Rob! I nearly died trying to come see you, and I finally get here and your fucking around with your little girlfriend, while you think I’m laying in a hospital bed! It hurts!” I cried.

“Girlfriend? Kristen, you’re being ridiculous! I didn’t know you were getting out of the hospital so soon. We were just playing poker.”

I turned away from him again. He came up behind me. “I’m sorry.” He kissed my cheek. “I love you, Kristen. I don’t know why you’re doubting me so much lately.”

I wiped the tears from my cheek. I didn’t really have an answer for him. “I just want to go to sleep.”

He sighed and rolled over, away from me.

I couldn’t sleep, so I was up before Rob. I continued cleaning up his room and I couldn’t help myself when I came across his cell phone. I looked through his text messages. The first one I saw from her was enough.

Hey, stud muffin! Poker tonight in your room? - Kacie

“Ugh!” I screamed. I threw his phone on the bed.

He woke up and rolled over quickly. “What’s wrong? What are you doing?”

“She calls you stud muffin?? Seriously?”

He signed and covered his head with a pillow.

“Talk to me, dammit!” I pulled the pillow off his head.

“I don’t want to talk to you right now for fear I’ll say something I don’t mean!”

“I don’t care. Say it,” I prodded.

He shook his head and exhaled a deep breath he was holding. “I don’t know what your problem is! I don’t know why you suddenly don’t trust me! She has a thing for me, but I don’t for her! She doesn’t know about us. Look at my sent messages, I’ve never so much as acknowledged her flirting. We’re just friends!”

I was silent. He continued.

“Imagine how I felt all those times you were with Michael. I would never do that to you, Kristen. Ever. So, stop this little rampage your on.” He got out of bed and went to the bathroom. I sat there in the floor, speechless.

I cried, because I didn’t know what else to do. I think somewhere inside me, although I refused to acknowledge it, I was testing him. Trying to see how far I could push him, to see if he would still stick around.

He came out of the bathroom a while later, freshly showered. He got dressed, ignoring me.

“I’m sorry, Rob.”

He sighed and walked over to me, pulling me up and leading me to the bed, where we both sat. “It’s alright, Kristen. Everything is going to be fine, stop worrying so much. I’m not going anywhere. You’re still the one I want, you always will be.”

Hot tears poured down my cheeks and I quickly wiped them away. I nodded my head to acknowledge him.

“When is the last time you ate? Are you hungry?” he asked.

“I don’t know, I don’t even know what day it is. I’m starving.”

He let out a disappointed sigh and grabbed the room service menu from the desk nearby. “Let me know what you want. I’ll order us breakfast, okay?”

I nodded my head and looked over the breakfast items on the menu. I wanted everything. I was so hungry. The baby kicked inside me and I laughed.

“What?” he asked.

“She’s hungry too,” I said, placing my hand over my stomach.

He came over to me and kissed my forehead. “She needs a name!”

“I know, I know. She needs a million things, like a crib, a bassinet, clothes...it’s a never ending list!”

He laughed. “You’re supposed to be working on that list.”

“I know.” I tried to change the subject. “I want the belgian waffles with bacon and a cup of fruit.” I handed the menu back to him. “I feel so gross. I want to take a shower, but I’m not supposed to get this cast wet. Do you have anything plastic in here?”

After looking around momentarily, he came up with a trash bag.

“Perfect!” I said, taking it from him and heading to the bathroom. I put my foot inside the plastic bag and tucked it into the top of the cast. I thoroughly enjoyed my shower and when I got out, I noticed, for the first time, the nasty cut above my eye. It hurt. I hoped it didn’t scar. I had to go back to the doctor next week to have the stitches taken out. The left side of my face had bruised a bit, especially around the cut. When I opened the door to the bathroom, I could smell the breakfast and I swear I started salivating like a dog would. When I was sure the hotel staff had left, I went back out to the main room, still in my towel.

“I don’t have any clothes,” I said to Rob.

“Too bad,” he joked. He got up and threw me a pair of sweat pants and a big t-shirt.

“Are these clean?” I asked.

He laughed. “Yes, they’re clean.”

“Just making sure, this place looked like a bunch of street people lived here before I cleaned it.”

“I don’t like people in my room, I don’t let them clean it.”

“I see.”

We both sat down to eat. I ate everything on my plate and talked Rob into letting me finish his eggs and toast. I don’t think I’ve ever eaten so much in my life. I felt like a huge cow afterwards. Rob kept making fun of me.

“Well at least one of us enjoyed breakfast,” he laughed.

“I’m sorry, I was hungry! Order some more if you’re still hungry.”

He stood up. “No, I’m fine. I’ll be back a in a few minutes, I’ve got to run an errand.”

“Where are you going?” I asked, standing and following him to the door.

He grabbed a hoodie and zipped it up. “Stop asking so many questions, I’ll be right back.” He kissed my lips quickly and was gone. I stood there speechless, pouting. I didn’t know what he was up to. I went back to the table to see if I had left any crumbs from breakfast. “This is all your fault,” I joked aloud to the baby. I was starting to like being pregnant. It gave me someone to talk to when no one was there. After I made sure there was nothing left to breakfast, I drank Rob’s left over orange juice and then cleaned up. I’ve never been a neat freak, but lately, I couldn’t stand a mess.

I had housekeeping exchange his dirty towels for clean ones and I had them put new sheets on the bed. I hoped he wasn’t partial to his dirty ones. The room looked brand new by the time he got back, with a large bag in tow.

“What is that?” I asked.

“What did you do in here?” he asked, ignoring my question.

“I just cleaned up, new towels and sheets. I hope you don’t mind.”

He laughed. “Where is my old Kristen?”

I giggled momentarily before thinking about how much of a neat freak Michael was. What if that was a sign? I shook the thought from my head.

“She’s here. She just likes things cleaner now. I think it’s a mom thing.”

“Fair enough,” he said. “Speaking of mom things...”

“Uh oh. What have you done?”

He laughed. “It’s not what I’ve done. It’s what you’re going to do.”

“Oh, really?”

“Really.” He began pulling things out of the bag. Clothes, wigs, shoes, etc.

“I don’t get it.”

“You’re going to get into disguise and go shopping for our daughter.”

My eyes got large. I liked hearing him say our daughter. “Shopping?”

“Yes, what better place than New York? You can shop while I work. I expect you to come back with a lot! She has nothing!”

I sighed. “Okay.”

“I’ve arranged for some of my security guys to escort you.”

“No! That’s stupid. What’s the point of the disguise if they’re going to be around me? I want to go by myself.”

“I want to make sure you’re safe. People are crazy here.”

“No they’re not. They’re crazy for you, not me. Having people around me will only further suspicions. I want to do it alone.” My tone was serious. “Buying things for her...makes it real and undoable, permanent.”

He walked up to me and titled my chin up to face him. “Kris, it already is real, undoable and permanent.”

I felt a tear threaten to escape. “I’m just scared,” I whispered.

His lips pressed to mine and I instantly felt better. I moved my arms up around his neck and pulled him to me. He felt good. I missed him. He pulled away.

“What are you scared of?”

“Everything,” I answered.

“Be more specific please.”

I sighed, I knew what he was getting at. “You already know, why make me say it?”

“Because you need to get over it. I’m not going anywhere.”

I backed away from him. “I know you say that now, Rob. But what about when there’s this screaming baby that needs attention 24 hours a day. What if she isn’t yours and your free to walk away at any time. What if you just want to go have a beer with you friends, or you decide you want to be with a woman who isn’t wearing old clothes covered in baby puke. You don’t know what the future holds!”

“Dammit, Kristen! Are you trying to push me away?”

“No!” I cried. “I just want you to really think about things before you commit yourself to something that maybe you aren’t sure of. You still have time to back out. You can live your life. I want you to be happy.”

“You saying shit like that to me blows my fucking mind. How many times do I have to tell you? I’ve already committed myself to you. You act like your 100% sure she isn’t mine. There’s a damn good chance she is mine, Kristen. I’ll love her either way because she’s a part of you. Her being mine, would just be icing on the cake.”

I just stood there and cried. “I’m just trying to be prepared for the worst, and hoping for the best.”

He hugged me, and let out a deep sigh. “This has to stop. I don’t want to fight with you, I don’t want to argue with you. I don’t want to yell at you. I want to love you. I want us to be happy, for things to be the way they were. Stop doubting everything. I promise, everything will be fine. You’re not alone.”

I squeezed him tighter to me. “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. I’m just so scared.”

“I know, baby. You have to relax though, get over it. Our child is going to end up being manic depressive before she’s even born.”

I laughed and hit him playfully. “Shut up.”

“I have to get on set. Let’s get you fixed up, okay?”

I shook my head and wiped my eyes. I sat in the floor and began playing with all the stuff he had. “Where did you get all this?” I laughed.

“Stole it from the wardrobe trailer.”

I rolled my eyes. “Should’ve known!”

I wore a pair of boot cut jeans and believe it or not, a maternity shirt. Well, I think it was actually a baby-doll tee, but it looked about as maternity as I’d ever get. It was light pink, something I’d never be caught dead in. I wore a shoulder length blonde wig with bangs that looked very realistic. I put on a lot of make-up and wore a pair of brown sunglasses. I was almost pleased with myself. I cut the foot of the jeans a few inches so they would fit over my cast and not be too noticeable. I wore a brown sandal on my only working foot.

“Well?” I came out of the bathroom for my grand reveal.

“Wow, you clean up nice,” Rob joked.

I laughed. “I look like a real mom-to-be. This is totally freaky.”

He laughed at me. “You look cute.” He kissed me. “I have to go, love.”

I nodded my head. He handed me two cards.

“What’s this?” I asked.

“A key to my room, and my credit card.”

“Why do I need your credit card?” I asked, confused.

“Because, shopping today is on me.”

“No, it’s not. I have my own money.”

“Kristen! Stop being so stubborn and take my card. Please?”

I sighed. “Fine!”

He smiled. “Good, enjoy your day. Spoil her for me.”

I reached up and kissed him. “I will. I love you, I’m sorry, again.”

“It’s alright. I love you too, have fun.”

I shook my head and watched him disappear out the door.

I took a deep breath and looked at myself in the mirror. This is what other mom’s looked like, not me. I questioned myself again, if I could even do this whole mom thing. I kept trying to remember what my mom told me. It’s just a little version of me. It’s not big and scary. She doesn’t have to wear pink. She can wear black. I sighed, I bet they don’t even make baby clothes in black.

There For You - FlyLeaf

Sometimes I’m a selfish fake
You’re always a true friend
And I don’t deserve you ‘cause I’m not there for you,
please forgive me again

I wanna be there for you
someone you can come to
runs deeper than my bones
I wanna be there for you
I wanna be there for you

Swirling shades of blue
Slow dancing in your eyes
The sun kisses the earth
And I hush my urge to cry

I wanna be there for you
someone you can come to
runs deeper than my bones
I wanna be there for you
I wanna be there for you

‘Cause I hear the whispered words
In your masterpiece beautiful
You speak the unspeakable thought
“I love you too”

I wanna be there for you
Someone you can come to
I wanna be there for you
and be someone you can come to
The love runs deeper than my bones
And I wanna be there for you

I arrived in London late the evening before the BAFTA awards. I didn’t even get to see Rob that night or most the following day. Needless to say, I was not a happy girl. Rob and I had our handlers arrange for us to both be at the awards ceremony. It gave us a work related excuse to see each other. That entire evening was just a nightmare. I had nearly missed an entire day of sleep for traveling. I didn’t even get to see Rob for the first time until we arrived at the awards ceremony. I reluctantly waltzed down the red carpet of hell, answering the same stupid fucking questions from reporters who thought they were so savvy and surely asking a question nobody else had. I’m sure the annoyance was ever present on my face.

I was even further annoyed to learn that we weren’t even sitting next to each other, although that had been my idea. I knew if we sat next to each other the cameras would be in our face the entire time, but at least I’d be smiling. Now, I was stuck two rows behind him. We spoke briefly and embraced momentarily before being ushered to take our seats.

“Do we have to go to the after party?” I asked.

“Just briefly. I have an early call time.”

I sighed. “Okay.”

Rob squeezed my hand. “Go sit down, we’ll be alone soon. You look lovely by the way.” He grinned his infamous grin and I momentarily felt better. I nearly leaned up to kiss him when I remembered where we were.

I’m so sick of this shit! I thought to myself. I dropped his hand and walked off to my seat, at least I’d have a good view, of the back of his head. Rob stared after me, surely wondering why I was suddenly so aggravated. Sometimes I wished I had met him under different circumstances, and that he wasn’t lusted after by every girl in America. Sometimes, I just wanted to be normal. I wanted to hold his hand in public and not think about who could see us. I wanted to kiss him, touch him, feel him. I sat in my seat and stewed until some time later when I heard my name being called. Oh. Fuck. I. Won. I looked up to see Rob looking back at me. I stood quickly and made my way on the stage. I don’t even know what I said. It was all such a blur. At least I didn’t drop my fucking award. That’s all I wanted, not to drop it.

I was so relieved to be back in my seat moments later. I hated talking in front of so many people like that, especially when I felt so undeserving of the award. I hated going to these things. They were so dreadfully long. I just wanted to touch the boy two rows ahead to my left. He’d glance back at me occasionally, our eyes meeting. He’d flash me that damn crooked smile that almost always resulted in soiled panties. Good thing I wasn’t wearing any tonight.

The ceremony finally ended and we left separately. We arrived at the after party a short while later where we could finally be around each other, out of the press’ watch. We had only been at the party less than an hour before I started whining.

“Can we leave yet?” I asked.

“We’re here celebrating you’re award; we can leave whenever you want.”

I grabbed his hand beneath the table. “I only want to celebrate with you. I’m exhausted. Can I stay with you tonight?” I had a hotel room booked a short distance from Rob’s because I knew he’d have to get up early and I had other commitments as well.

“Of course you can stay with me. You just can’t keep me up all night,” he winked.

I laughed. “Baby, I’ll be passed out before we get there. You’re not getting any naughty girl from me tonight.”

Rob laughed loudly. “None at all? We can make it quick.”

I shook my head. “If I’m awake by the time we arrive, I’ll lay there and you can have your way with me,” I teased.

“That’s no fun!” he laughed.

We left the party together. Cameras hounded us. I hated them. As I suspected, I was passed out on Rob’s shoulder shortly after the car pulled away. I barely remember making it up to his room. I certainly don’t remember changing clothes, although I’m sure he took care of that for me.

I got to catch up on my sleep the next few days while Rob worked. I had some prior commitments, but we usually got to see each other for a few hours every night.

This bogus story about Rob admitting we were together was all over the news stands and internet. We had originally planned on flying back to NYC together. He had to be there for the Remember Me Premiere and press junket. I was going to spend a night with him in New York before heading back to L.A. We began to question our plans after the latest tabloid drama.

“Maybe I’ll just go straight to Los Angeles,” I mumbled as I packed my bag.

Rob didn’t respond. I turned to look at him. He was also packing his things for the next few days. “Do whatever you want. I was looking forward to an extra night with you in New York though,” he sounded upset.

“Rob, I don’t know what to do! I feel like we’re giving in to them and their bullshit stories will be confirmed if we’re seen in New York together.”

“There’s nothing bullshit about their stories, Kristen. We’re together, aren’t we?”

“Of course, I didn’t mean it like that. I meant that they incorrectly quote us as saying stuff all the time that was never said, or it was taken completely out of context. I’m just so tired of it.” I felt tears sting my eyes and I hushed my urge to cry. “This is stupid. I’m tired of living like this. Fuck them! I want to be there for you. I want to go to New York with you, and spend more than just one night there. I want to be at the Premiere to support you. I’m so proud of you, and everything that you’re doing. I want to be there to share it with you.” Swirling shades of blue and green in his eyes were all I could see as he came towards me, pulling me to him.

“I want you to be there. I don’t care what they think. I don’t care if we give in. I’ll announce it to the whole fucking world if it means I can have you there. My family and friends will be there. It’s nothing to me if you’re not there. All I’ll be thinking about is my next opportunity to be where you are.”

A big cheesy grin spread across my face. “Let’s do it. Fuck them all. I’ll follow you around the goddamn world all I want!”

Rob laughed before titling my chin up and pressing his lips to my own. “You have no idea how happy this makes me, to know that you’ll be there.” The scent of his breath on me was intoxicating, smokey peppermint. My forehead pressed to his, our eyes burning into each others.

“I’m sorry I missed all the other times I should’ve been there for you.”

He shook his head. “No apologizing. The timing is right, now.”

I nodded my head. “I love you,” and he whispered the unthinkable, “I love you too.” Every time he said it, I still couldn’t believe it, that he could love me. I smiled, content and happy, pressing my lips to his, again and again.

The next couple of days with Rob, were some of our happiest. It was like this huge weight had been lifted off our shoulders. We didn’t care what anyone thought anymore. We were going to do what we wanted.

The night of the Premiere, we got ready together in our hotel room. My handlers had picked up a few things for me so I could decide what I wanted to wear. They were mostly dresses.

“I don’t like any of these,” I complained to Rob.

“They’re all nice, just pick one.”

I turned to face him. “I don’t want to wear a dress. It’s Emilie’s night.”

“Oh,” he looked at his watch.

“It’s okay. Go on without me. I’ll find something and I’ll see you there.” Rob was arriving at the Premiere shortly before I was because he had to do all the interviews. I wasn’t going to be speaking to the press at all.

I finally settled on a pair of hot pants with black heels, black tee, and leather jacket.

There were hoards of people, press and photographers by the time I arrived. I stood for a few pictures here and there on the red carpet, but I otherwise just snuck by. It did feel good to pose for a few pictures, it was like a mini coming out party for Rob and I. I don’t even think Rob knew I was there until he got to the end of the press line and we entered the theater together.

He put his arm around my waist and kissed my cheek before whispering in my ear. “I thought you said it was Emilie’s night.”

I looked at him, confused. “I did.”

“Well, your ass is stealing the show in those pants.”

I laughed and nudged him playfully. He laughed too. “You look great. I’m so glad you’re here.”

I smiled, “Me too.” We took our seats in the theater. We sat in the back in our own little nook, only a few people around us, but mostly in front of us. We didn’t watch the movie. We only had eyes for each other.

Sex On Fire - Kings of Leon

Lay where you're laying, don't make a sound
I know they're watching, they're watching
All the commotion, the kiddie like play
Has people talking, talking

You, your sex is on fire

The dark of the alley, the breaking of day
The head while I'm driving, I'm driving
Soft lips are open, knuckles are pale
Feels like you're dying, you're dying

You, your sex is on fire
Consumed with what's to transpire

Hot as a fever, rattling bones
I could just taste it, taste it
If it's not forever, if it's just tonight
Oh, it's still the greatest, the greatest, the greatest

You, your sex is on fire
And you, your sex is on fire
Consumed with what's to transpire

And you, your sex is on fire
Consumed with what's to transpire

**Rob POV**

I don’t know who started it, surely she did. It almost felt like I was normal again, in a movie theater with my girlfriend, sneaking kisses when nobody was watching. The pants she had on left nothing to the imagination. I couldn’t help but imagine her long sexy legs wrapped around my body.

People were watching, they were talking. I didn’t care. I wanted her. I removed the arm rest between us, sliding my hand between her thighs. She shot me an evil grin, both a warning, and a plea to continue. Her center was warm, like fire. My mouth watered, if I could just taste it, taste her. She wiggled in her chair, effectively rubbing herself against my hand. She reached across me, reaching for me. My cock was already standing, begging for her attention. She grinned as she stroked me through my trousers and bit her lip.

I threw my head back against the chair, relishing her touch. I leaned over to her and whispered in her ear, “I have to have you.”

“I want you,” she mouthed to me. “Where?”

I grinned, “Seriously?”

She took my hand in both of hers and pressed it even more firmly to her center. She nodded her head, “My sex is on fire...for you.”

I reached for her hand, placing it back on my hard length. “I know the feeling, baby.”

She moaned softly, “Please, Rob. I need you. You’re my fireman, you’re the only one who can put this fire out,” she said as she pressed my hand harder to her center.

I nearly took her in that fucking chair. “Fuck, Kristen.”

“Please,” she begged.

“I have an idea,” I grabbed her hand. “Walk out in front of me.”

She giggled, knowing she would be shielding my desire for her. We snuck out of the theater and into our awaiting limo. I told the driver to go pull into the alley nearby. We’d just go to the after party when the movie was over. The driver did as I asked and he put the barrier up.

When I turned back around, Kristen had discarded her leather jacket, her palm pressed firmly to her sex, through her pants. “Need you...now,” she groaned.

I nearly growled and shot across the limo to her, immediately capturing her lips between my own. I struggled to figure out how to get her pants off, I couldn’t even slip my hand between them and her, they fit like a second skin.

“Fuck!” I yelled, frustrated. I pulled on the material.

“Wait, careful. I have to wear these!” She unzipped a tiny zipper on the side of her hip that I would’ve never noticed.

She kicked her heels off and shimmied out of the hot pants. Her scent hit me immediately and my mouth watered again. There was nothing between her and those pants; how badly I wished I were those pants. “Lay back, don’t make a sound. I know they’re watching.” The press was just on the other end of the alley, seemingly interested in the limo that pulled in.

She scoffed, “Not possible.”

I grinned. “Do your best.” I dove into her, tasting her. She tasted sinfully divine. Her creamy long legs swung over my shoulders, pulling me closer to her. I slipped two fingers inside her, she was so warm and wet.

“You’re sex is on fire,” I teased.

She moaned, “For you...I want you so bad, Rob.”

“You have me.” I pressed my fingers more firmly into her, increasing my pace, all the while teasing her bundle of nerves with my tongue. She rocked her hips, pressing herself more firmly to my face. I was completely lost in her. I felt her tighten around my fingers and her hips bucked wildly as she came.

“Fuck! Rob! Don’t stop!” she begged, as I continued to penetrate her with my long fingers. Her hips slowly relaxed as she came down from her high. I wanted to rip my pants off and plunge into her, but she stopped me.

“Nuh uh...” she shook her head. “It’s my turn.” She sat up and got down into the floor board and pushed me back onto the leather seat. She settled herself between my legs, on her knees. I was consumed with what was about to transpire.

She unzipped my trousers, reached between the slit in my boxers and freed my throbbing erection. It felt so good to be in her hand. She stroked me, all the while her eyes never left mine. Her knuckles were pale; her soft lips surrounded me. If I let her continue the way she was, I’d be done in a matter of seconds. I grabbed a handful of her hair to guide her ministrations at my own pace.

“Fuck, that feels so good.” I laid my head back against the seat and enjoyed her lips on me. I occasionally glanced down at her, only to see her staring back at me. Her lust filled eyes penetrated me. There was no greater sight in the world than seeing her lips wrapped so firmly around me. I loved how she gave so much of herself to me, and I just wanted to give it all back to her.

I pulled up on her hair. “Stop, baby.”

She looked up at me with sad, questioning eyes, her lips still around my cock.

“Come here, I need to be closer to you.”

She let go of me instantly, smiled, and took my hand to help her from the kneeling position between my legs. She straddled my waist and I ran my hands up her smooth legs, gripping her hips. She hovered over me and I slowly helped her down on to me, filling her, inch by inch. My hands ran up her sides, slipped beneath her shirt, and pulled it over her head. Her hair fell, covering her face, and I pushed it back behind her ear so I could see her. As she rocked her hips against me, I pulled her closer to me, kissing her. She was so warm and wet for me and my body was on sensory overload. I moaned into her mouth and I felt her smile against my lips.

She leaned back and looked at me. Our eyes locked, and the only noise to be heard was her breathing out, and me breathing her in.

I pulled her already red and swollen lips back to my own as she rocked her hips into me, faster and harder. The little sounds that were escaping her were about to send me into orbit. I kissed her harder, trying to muffle her little noises. Nonsense. She nearly screamed my name when she came, for the second time. That’s all it took, and I let myself go. After all the tension I’d been walking around with all day, the release felt so exhilarating. I felt like a rocket blasting off into space. My fingertips dug into the delicate skin around her hips as I spilled every last drop of my seed into her.

When I finally felt like I could breathe again, I kissed her over and over, everywhere I could reach, her lips, her eyes, her nose, her neck, breasts, and shoulders. “You’re so incredible. I love you.”

She grinned as I sucked on the sensitive skin of her ear lobe and continued down her neck. She started giggling and it was music to my ears, until I heard the phone ringing behind me.

I picked up the phone. “Yes?”

“Mr. Pattinson, the theater has emptied, guests are arriving at the after party. Are you ready to go now?” the driver asked.

“Um, yes, that will be fine. Give me five minutes before you let us out.”

“Yes, sir.”

Kristen was scrambling to get off of me before I even hung up the phone. I missed her as soon as she was gone from me.

“Oh no!” she screamed.

“What?” I asked, still too relaxed to move.

She pointed at me. “Your pants!”

I looked down, to see my crotch area covered in my future children that apparently spilled out from inside her.

I leaned back and laughed. “Fuck.”

Kristen laughed. “Put your little stallion away, I’ll try to clean them.”

I re-adjusted myself and straightened my pants up while Kristen grabbed a bottle of water from the mini fridge and a napkin. She practically dumped the entire bottle of water on my crotch.

“Ah!” I screeched at the coolness of it. I was still sensitive. “Great idea, now I look like I pissed myself.”

Kristen laughed, trying to dry me with the little napkin. I took it from her so she could get dressed.

“Fuck, we’re here,” I said, as I frantically dabbed at my crotch with a little four inch square napkin.

Kristen was laughing so hard she was having trouble shimming her little second skin pants on. It didn’t matter what she was doing, she was sexy as hell doing it. I think she could read the want in my eyes and she bit her lip, suggestively.

“Don’t even think about it,” I laughed. “Get your shoes on, the driver is coming. Walk in front of me the entire way! It will be darker inside.”

Kristen zipped her pants, slipped her shoes on and stepped out of the limo first. She stood directly in front of me as we were led inside by security.

As we got just inside the door, and I felt safe from cameras capturing my crotch mishap, I put my arm around Kristen and whispered in her ear, “See how much fun premieres can be when attended together?”

She turned to face me and grabbed my hand, her green eyes penetrated mine. “I’ll never miss another one.”

I smiled and kissed her cheek, before entwining my fingers with hers and walking into the crowd of people at the party.
